Temporary Workers & Residents

Canada allows employers to hire foreign nationals as workers when and if they cannot find their required talent in Canada. This provides opportunity for the prospective immigrants to come and work in Canada and later settle down as permanent residents under streams designed as pathway to permanent residence

Work-Permits

All temporary residents/asylum seekers require a work permit to work in Canada. Eligible applicants are issued work permit. Teem Immigration Inc. can help you apply, renew, or restore your work permit to extend your stay in Canada.

Temporary Foreign Workers Program (TFWP)

Work-Permits with LMIA

Employers looking to hire foreign nationals need a positive LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) from ESDC (Employment & Social Development Canada) to apply on behalf of the worker to be hired for the designated position. Some NOCs are exempted from LMIA requirement. To apply for work permit candidates would need the positive LMIA and a valid job offer from the employer.

Global Talent Stream

Designated partners/NOCs LMIA applications are processed under Global Talent stream which provides faster processing.

International Mobility Program

The IMP lets employers hire temporary workers without an LMIA. Exemptions from the LMIA process are based on both of the following:

  • the broader economic, cultural or other competitive advantages for Canada
  • the reciprocal benefits enjoyed by Canadians and permanent residents

Further exemptions from LMIA can be given on following:

  1. International Agreements (NAFTA, CETA, GATS, FTAs with Chile, Columbia, Peru & Korea)
  2. Canadian interest exemptions
  3. Intra Company Transferees
  4. Humanitarian & Compassionate reasons
  5. Canadian permanent residency applicants
